The Neighborhood Academy Mural Project
The Neighborhood Academy is a private school for inner city students, grades 8 through 12, located in the heart of Pittsburgh, PA. I worked as an artist in residence for the academy, working with six students and teaching them the skills necessary for creating a mural. The students learned to use the tools of the trade such as transferring, multi-point perspective, color theory, foreshortening, and mapping out a grid of the 15' by 18.9' mural.

The Neighborhood Academy Pittsburgh 2
The seniors of the Neighborhood Academy have collaborated with artist Sandra Moore to build a mural which celebrates the region's 250 year anniversary. The mural was funded in part by the Heinz endowment and The Neighborhood Academy. The mural's creation spanned a period of nine months from concept to completion. This is one of the three panels, it represents the children going to school to become the citizens they want to become in the future.
